PROmotion Health Clinic Claremont
This is the second Fit-Out by Gantier Architecture & Design for PROmotion,
The well established and highly regarded Physiotherapy clinic has now expanded and opened a new space in Claremont.
The brief consisted of increasing the number of consulting rooms and spaces for a continual expansion of services. PROmotion services now includes not only Physiotherapy and Clinical Pilates, but also Podiatry, a Rehabilitation Gym, Exercise Physiology and Remedial Massage amongst other services coming soon. Although this new converted warehouse space is almost 4 times the size of their last clinic, the directors wanted to maintain the light, bright and inviting living room feel of their last reception area. A great deal of effort was also placed on natural light and ventilation throughout, maintaining a healthy space for body and mind to work in as they believed It is important that a company promoting health, works in a healthy environment.
The new space was also to become a celebration of the success of the now established PROmotion brand, integrating the company ethos of 'movement as medicine' into the design. The company's logo has a wheel of motion created by two intertwined coloured möbius bands representing clinician and client or patient and practitioner working together in tandem towards better health. We then deconstructed this into fragmented angles and curves used in the materials, furniture, walls and ceilings. We detached the new elements from the beautiful original warehouse to accentuate the vastness of the structure and space and help reference the angles and shapes of the magnificent original timber trusses, all in all creating a fluid sense of motion throughout the new space.
As in our last space designed for PROmotion in Claremont Quarter, these concepts work on continuing to break the mould of the traditional physiotherapy / health clinic and other commercial office Fit-Out designs that focus on boxed in rooms with dropped ceilings and little to no natural light and ventilation. Instead we attempt to create a journey through the space with surprising delights along the way. The addition of skylights, Breezway Louvres, large new windows, clearstory glazing and internal glass doors and walls allowed us to share and bounce around as much natural light and ventilation throughout the space as we could. Gantier Architecture & Design worked closely with the owners from the very outset of their expansion, looking at a variety of spaces in Perth. The old Bunnings Claremont Warehouse was a delightful space to design in with its high ceilings allowing for extra storage on a mezzanine level and beautiful original industrial structure.
